Top 5 Austin Food Trucks
Food trucks are everywhere in Austin, spread out in various food truck parks across the city that all serve unique cuisines and dishes. Below are my TOP 5 favorite food trucks in Austin.
Chef Hong Food Trailer (Chinese food)
This food truck serves really authentic Chinese food made by Chef Hong. The menu has everything that I usually crave when I don’t go back home to Houston for a while. The must order dishes include the ‘Chinese hamburger’, the Liang Pi (spicy and refreshing sesame cold noodles), and their dumplings. I haven’t tried their wontons or beef noodle soup, but i’m sure those are tasty too. The truck is tucked away in a small street (907 W 24th St) next to the University of Texas and you can apparently order through the chatting platform, WhatsApp.

Budare’s (Venezuelan food)
Budares is located at the 5000 Burnet Food Park and serves traditional Venezuelan dishes including arepas with various filings, sweet and savory cachapas, tequeños (cheese sticks), and pabellon criollo (shredded beef served with beans, grilled plantains, rice, and avocado). It’s a mother/daughter operation and they also run a catering business. The beef and cheese empanadas are also a must try! Oh, and my Venezuelan boyfriend approved of the food here.

Patrizi’s (Italian pasta)
For those days when you’re just craving a comfy bowl of pasta. Patrizi’s is located in East Austin next to the Butterfly Bar and serves great handmade pastas and appetizers. My favorites are the Pomodoro pasta with an extra meatball, the cacio e pepe, and the bread and beef fat side. The food truck was started by two brothers who wanted to pay homage to their family’s old 50 year old restaurant .

The Doughminican
The Beef empanadas. That’s what you have to order at this East Austin Dominican food truck. It’s operated by chef Melvin Mendez, who will cook up a conversation with you while he prepares your order. Besides the amazing empanadas, he also serves a variety of Dominican dishes that he changes from time to time. The location and hours also vary, so check their Facebook page for the updates.
Song La (Taiwanese food)
Song La serves traditional Taiwanese snacks and dishes including crispy basil popcorn chicken and braised pork over rice by themselves or inside bento boxes with side dishes. The food truck is located next to the UT campus and inside the Co-op food court among other trucks. They also serve a great milk tea and fried tofu to snack on. The food is authentic, quick, and tasty
