Top Austin Breweries and Beer Gardens

Below are 8 of my favorite spots in Austin to grab some drinks and look at other people’s dogs while being able to socially distance yourself from others. All options here have pet friendly outdoor patios, great food options, and of course, good beer!

Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden

Cosmic is at the top of my list. The variety on their menu and abundance of outdoor seating make it a popular spot both during the day for lunch/coffee breaks and in the evening for those grabbing some drinks and dinner.

  • Huge outdoor space. Very dog friendly.

  • Delicious food trucks (3 to choose from, I’ve only had the Taco truck)

  • Beer, creative cocktails, AND coffee - options for everyone

    • Personal favorite cocktail: The Jolene - Bourbon with peach, ginger, earl grey and mint

    • For beer, they serve a variety of local drafts

Austin Eastciders collaboratory

Austin Eastciders has an endless list of cider options with flavors like: pinapple, pear rosemary, and watermelon. My personal favorite is their blood orange cider. Visit their Collaboratory to try a flight of different ciders on the patio or visit their new restaurant on Barton Springs where they serve pizza, brunch, and Eastciders cocktails (menu here).

  • Endless cider options!

  • Dog friendly

Austin Beer Garden Brewing Co (ABGB)

Here’s another spot with a massive outdoor patio where you can enjoy their award winning beers! It’s situated right next to an active train track, but you won’t notice it much if you’re having a good time. To drink, I usually order the Hell Yes, a light and crisp Helles beer. The last time I went (back in September), they required reservations for the patio, so doublecheck before going.

  • Great, award winning beers

  • Dog friendly patio

  • Good food options

Oasis Texas Brewing Company

This spot has an incredible elevated view of Lake Travis, and you can enjoy it from their outdoor patio with some beer and some delicious food from their craft kitchen (they serve hummus, burgers, pretzels, etc.). I really loved their poutine, but I don’t see it on their menu anymore.

  • Views, views, views!

  • Great food options from their extensive menu

The below four breweries are all located in North Austin and you could potentially plan a day of brewery hopping as they are all located pretty close to each other. These are all pretty traditional breweries and have less frills (cute lights/other drink options/food menus/etc).

circle brewing co

  • A few tables outside, but a small brewery in general

  • Food truck available

  • Ambers, IPAs, Kolsh’s, Blondes, Porters, and more!

Hopsquad Brewing Co

  • Limited patio, but the inside is very spacious with one wall completely open to the outside

  • Also dog friendly! (inside and out)

  • Hefeweizens, IPA’s, dark ales!

Celis Brewery

  • A few outdoor tables

  • Great wheat beers (I prefer the Celis White)

  • Taco food truck

4th Tap Brewing

  • A few benches outside

  • Their ‘colour out of space’ kettle sour is made with raspberries and blackberries and is a super interesting/refreshing choice! (seasonal)
